Easy cooking

A simple and yummy dish

Tuesday, July 28, 2009Me! In words

I am constantly on the look out for easy-to-do recipes. As a result I have an exhaustive list of recipes that are do-able in half an hour tops. Here is a recipe for a pepper chicken gravy I came across. Was rather sceptical about it and the result in the beginning, but the final dish was yummy.

Ingredients: half kg chicken, 2 medium sized onion sliced, 2 medium sized tomatoes chopped, around a tbsp of ginger garlic paste, 2-4 green chillies slit (depending entirely on your burn-the-stomach quotient), 1 tsp of garam masala, 1/2 turmeric powder, 1 tsp of saunf powder, 1 tbsp of coriander powder, 1 level tbsp of pepper powder (again keep in mind the burn quotient)

The ingredients

Heat oil and fry the sliced onions till they have crossed the glazed state and are starting to brown, add in your chopped tomatoes, green chillies and ginger garlic paste and cook till the tomatoes are soft. Once soft, add in all the powders and mix it up well. At this stage if you feel the consistency is too dry add a wee bit of water. Cook the mixture well. Add in the mutton and coat it properly with the masala. Add salt to taste, and enough of water. If you add little you get a dry dish and if you add more you get a gravy. You decide. Close and pressure for as long as you normally do.

Open, add in salt and give it a good boil for a minute or so. Garnish with coriander leaves. The dish tastes great with steaming white rice.
