Famous Pancakes

Monday, February 15, 2010Me! In words

Yesssssss!!!!! I finally know how to make Pancakes!!! Delicious-soft-fluffy (I know you love that word!!) pancakes, that melt in your mouth, tickle your tongue and tease your belly saying "Mmmmmmmmoore!!!"... sorry, got carried away there. So here is me sharing the secret.

Ingredients
Dry-
2 Cups Maida or all purpose flour
3 Tbsp Sugar
1 Tsp Baking Powder
1 Tsp salt

All the dry ingredients

Wet-
2 Cups milk
2 Eggs
3 Tbsp melted butter
Vanilla essence

Wet Ingredients

Optional
Syrups- Maple, Chocolate, Strawberry, Honey
Fruits- Apple, Peaches, Strawberry, Blueberry, Mango

The REALLY ADVENTUROUS ADD ON- Cheese slice and luncheon meat or Salami slices or sausages... Yes, I tried it and it works!!!!!!

Method:
Mix the dry ingredients and the wet ingredients separately and then mix them together. Make sure while mixing that the mixture DOES NOT become a complete pasty batter. Make sure to leave some chunks of flour in it.

The mixed batter

Heat a pan on low flame. This is important as we shouldn't end up getting the pan too hot as it might burn the pancakes. grease it lightly with butter if need be. Pour about half a cup of the batter on to the pan but DO NOT spread it around as you would do to a dosa. Wait for it to settle. You can see bubbles forming on the outer edge of the pan cakes and slowly moving towards the center.

Pancakes when it is bubbling

When it gets there gently flip or turn the pancake. DO NOT pat it down when you turn it over. Shift it to a plate after about 30 seconds. Serve it with maple syrup or the other syrups mentioned above. For the health conscious they can use honey.

The pancake flipped over

Fruits can be added into the batter or even as soon as it is poured into the pan. You can also add the syrups like chocolate or strawberry at this stage. For the more adventurous, avoid sugar in the dry ingredients and you can prepare a sandwich of cheese and luncheon meat and salami.

With bananas

With bananas and chocolate sauce

With strawberries and pancake syrup

The above proportion makes about 16 pancakes of approximately 4 inches.
