The Polo Club at the Oberoi has always been a source of some memorable meals. With attention to detail and flavour being key, the food here has always been exceptional. If you would like to try out some of their unique offerings, the Global Grills at the Polo Club is an ongoing festival, till the end of the month (Februrary 28th) that you might want to catch.
Choose to sit in the pleasant outdoors (these are the last few evenings I am guessing that the weather is going to be this generous) or in the leather-upholstered Chesterfield sofas around the bar area. Settle down with a cocktail and glance through a menu that promises to be indulgent - after all, it has the likes of Rock Lobster, twice cooked Australian Pork Belly, Cochin Bay Grouper and Scottish Salmon. The menu leans more towards meats and poultry than it does towards vegetarians. Each of these will be served with baked or mashed potatoes, grilled vegetables or creamed spinach. Here's a look at some of what we sampled that evening.
Genie in a Bottle - a citrus based cocktail
Earl Grey Martini with some nitrogen special effects - which was called for a few times more
Genie in a Bottle and Sangria
Rock Lobster with Lemon and Chilli
BBQ Chicken Skewers with Baked Potatoes and Cream
German Snail Sausages
Soft centred Belgium chocolate pudding with vanilla icecream
Orange Creme Brulee
The pictures definitely do not do justice to the dishes served. Rest assured you are in good hands here as the chefs show the utmost respect in their treatment of meats. The Pork Belly with honey and mustard glaze will have you considering another order of it. The tenderloin medallions in Chimichuri was another spectacular offering. The BBQ chicken skewers were moist and had absorbed their marinade well. I could go on. A meal for two at this festival will be in the ballpark of Rs 4000.
